When you think of Poetry what comes to mind Purple cows Roses are red Nevermore Some Minneapolis-based actors are trying to make sure elementary school kids think of fun when they consider poetry As Jim Olson shows us that s why they named their show Giggle Poetry On Stage There s a terrible green monster that lives underneath my bed These are poems that kids can relate to On Stage I m a troll And the two actors presenting the poetry make sure it s fun On Stage Stop acting like a silly fool the principal cannot skip school Sara Richardson Giggle Poetry It s a fun way to bring poetry to kids other than just reading it since they ar so engaging and funny Sara Richardson and Noah Bremer are Minneapolis-area actors who for audiences like these turn into Giggle Poetry On Stage If I don t get that pony I ll die Reporter Tell me what it s like interacting with kids like this what s it like for you Noah Bremer Giggle Poetry It s wonderful it s the best part of the job Because they talk back and have a lot to say and get so excited about the poetry Sara Richardson Giggle Poetry And they believe things differently than adults If I point at a pony in the back of the room all the heads turn to see where the pony is And the kids get a chance to become a part of the show - when two of them don masks and helps solve a crime - told in rhyme - involving someone named not who was shot On Stage Project like an actor Not and someone named shot who was not On Stage Shot Good nice and loud Shot Sara Richardson Giggle Poetry I love that part because it s hilarious and they get excited and bring their own humor to it Elise Wood 3rd Grader I felt kind of nervous but it was funny and shouty You got to be loud Uh huh Hayden Moore 3rd Grader It was fun We got to do lots of stuff - it was funny What was your line Shot On Stage And your scuba dive outfit in case there s a flood The entire presentation is designed to make sure kids see poetry as a fun interesting way to express themselves - and it seems that Giggle Poetry lives up to its name At North Plains Elementary Jim Olson KX News You and your children can check out Giggle Poetry tonight at 7 at Longfellow Elementary School in Minot The show is free and very family friendly
