The BSC Aquatics and Wellness Center has been open for nearly a month And while those involved in swimming have been making many splashes the last four weeks officials say the building is open to everyone And as Donnell Preskey reports the uniqueness of the facility makes it a one of a kind in the region For a swimmer diving into an olympic sized pool like this is like a golfer playing a round at Pebble Beach satisfaction it ended up being everything I was hoping it would be when we started Dennis Kemmesat is one of the visionaries behind the new Aquatics Center all three of my kids swimmers and I m a coach Seeing what we have for facilities locally wasn t adequate - for kids who want to compete and be better and achieve something in competitive swimming Been around competitive swimming for 30 years and have heard talk about it for 30 plus years need a new pool in bismarck There are two seperate pools What s unique the competitive pool can be seperated into three areas for diving and laps or it can be opened into one olympic sized pool It not only gives swimmers a new place to compete practice and learn but usually there is at least one pool open for the public to use as well The closest thing - that s going to be a facility that would one up it is the University of Minnesota s facility in Minneapolis But facilities like this - there s nothing like it between here amp Seattle A gem for community Swim clubs are expanding adding dive clubs swimming leagues scuba classes will be scheduled and Swimming lessons will be offered year round If you d rather stay dry The Aquatics and Wellness Center has top notch workout equipment and fitness classes a journey it s nice to see the end of it see people in here and using it and excited about it now Satisfied five years after jumping in with the idea Aquastorm a newly formed swim club will have it s frist ever swim league in Bismarck for grade school students That starts in the middle of April The Bismarck Parks and Recreation Department operates the BSC Aquatics and Wellness Center
